Users will be added to an additional usergroup titled "Buy, Sell, and Trade Access" when they have over 100 posts and have been registered for more than 90 days. The auto-promotion to this access level runs every hour. We just completed the addition of this usergroup to the permissions set for the BST, BST Parts, and BST Vehicles sections. Without "Buy, Sell, and Trade Access" you are unable to post new topics to sell your items, although you are still permitted to reply to other people's topics so you can buy from the established users. With this in place, we will cut down on the number of members who merely join to use us like a craigslist or freebay.

Moderator Inactivity

Over the past few months there have been a few complaints from the users about inactive moderators on the staff. Rather than try to respond back to all the folks who have brought it up, seemed better to simply address it here and now. Looking at all the moderators on the staff for the public areas of the site, only 3 have not been on the site over the past 24 hours. As for the administrators, all of them have been online as most recently as this morning. So, in short, if there are concerns regarding the inactivity of moderators, please rest assured that it has been looked into and it seems as if we don't have any dead ones. If you would like to help, however, in bringing something new to a section of this web site, please let me know.

Automatic User Ban for Low Reputation

This feature is now in effect.

Criteria: Reputation is less than -100
Action: Registered Users moved to Banned Users
Cycle: Hourly (automated task performed by system)

To protect users from retribution, reputation votes are anonymous. After a user is banned, the ability to give them reputation either positive or negative is removed. In short, if they are so bad they get banned, it is permanent. The reputation of -100 was selected because it was so negative that no one would be automatically banned and would have an opportunity to change their ways.
